Mattel Children’s Hospital

At Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, we put children first in our endeavors, whether clinical, research or teaching. We believe that a better future lies in our obligation to children today.

Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA offers a full spectrum of primary and specialized careShawnee, who celebrated her 13th birthday in March 2006, is a patient at Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA. She has undergone two heart transplants, the first in infancy and the other in 2006. The three hearts represent the three hearts in her life and the hope she has for the future. Proceeds from these cards help to support patient care at Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA for infants, children and adolescents. The mission of Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, an essential component of UCLA Health System, is to provide treatment for children in a compassionate atmosphere, and, as a teaching hospital, to conduct research that improves the understanding and treatment of pediatric diseases. In addition to our inpatient facilities, the outpatient clinics of Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA serve more than 98,000 patients each year.

In addition to providing medical services, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA is involved in grassroots legislation for children's issues. Members of the hospital's board, faculty and administrators have met with representatives at the city, state and federal levels to discuss legislation affecting children and the ability to render healthcare. Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA focuses on these issues because children do not have a voice in determining policy that will impact their lives. And Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA is a world leader in research to benefit and improve the health of children. In FY 2006-'07, Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA received more than $22 million in research grants and contracts.
